Virginia voters in favour of smokefree legislation

17 January 2007

Seventy one percent of Virginia voters favour smokefree legislation in public places, according to a poll.

The poll of 625 registered Virginia voters also showed support across party lines, with 78 percent of Democrats favouring it, 69 percent of independents and 66 percent of Republicans. The poll was paid for by a coalition of public-health groups that are lobbying for the legislation.
